The Albums That Almost Made the Cut…
In conjunction with my posting the list of my favorite recordings of 2007 on the Faves page, I’m including here the recordings that almost made the list. As has been the case in the past, in some cases the differences between recordings on either list are quite subtle. Indeed, some recordings are included on this list almost honorarily. That’s not to say that they aren’t good. Instead, their inclusion is a cautionary gesture on my part—one inspired more by my ambivalence about them than about their excellence in my twisted taste universe.
There is one thing you can be sure of, however: the items on the other list are the things I loved, the albums I listened to repeatedly and lovingly throughout the calendar year. If your tastes are in any way similar to mine, you’ll dig every recording there. And, even if they aren’t, there’ll still be lots to love.
So without further ado, here’s the list of the ones that almost made it:
- Amiina, Kurr
- Battles, Mirrored
- Akron/Family, Love Is Simple
- Andrew Bird, Armchair Apocrypha
- Caribou, Andorra
- The Cinematic Orchestra, Ma Fleur
